At the Lake Champlain waterfront in Burlington, Vermont, the 2% illuminated waxing crescent makes a thin fingernail of light as the rest of the lunar surface glows from reflected sun off the Earth — a phenomenon known as earthshine. The moon over the Lake Champlain lighthouse is reflected in the water.

There is a tradition among eclipse chasers is to photograph the thinly illuminated waxing crescent moon as it sets the day after an eclipse — the first time in the new moon cycle that the lit crescent is visible. This image is a bookend to the solar eclipse experience.

Available printed on photo paper or aluminum in a variety of sizes. Photo paper images will arrive unframed and will need to be framed before hanging. Aluminum prints will arrive ready for hanging.

No additional charge for shipping.
